Mo-City is developed as a high-density residential neighborhood with a modern transportation system, high quality public spaces, social and recreational amenities. Located on a bay of the Moskva River and just outside MKAD Ring Road, Mo-City stands out with its proximity to both nature and Moscow’s city center.

The urban plan is designed to respond to the social and cultural needs of its future inhabitants as well as to the economic and environmental issues pressing in the area. Mo-City, due to its exceptional location, presents the chance to be more than a regular residential neighborhood and become an attractive destination area for its surroundings.

The masterplan is organized around a framework, which defines the infrastructure, distribution of program and public space. This framework, while giving as much freedom and flexibility for the infill, secures the identity, efficiency and attractiveness of the masterplan both today and in the future. The anchor points of the plan are the central square and the waterfront, defined and connected by three main boulevards.

The masterplan is composed of perimeter blocks of various sizes. Perimeter blocks contribute to the spatial quality in the neighborhood by defining the street profiles and forming intimate courtyards. Throughout the plan, towers are placed in a checkerboard pattern, in order to optimize sunlight and views in such a high-density neighborhood. Finally, the central public square brings light and air into the heart of the masterplan.

Attractive urban areas ensure a balance between predictability and surprise; predictability gives comfort while surprise creates memorable experiences. Brick is the principle material used throughout whole plan, combined in various colors and tones in every different block. Façade patterns and window sizes also vary for each block and sometimes for each building. The architectural code, with a minimum of guidelines, aims to ensure an overall identity for the plan without becoming predictable.

In areas of high residential density, public buildings and public spaces become the center of urban life. They are necessary and they can survive because of this density. In the design of Mo-City, special attention is given to public spaces, both natural and man-made. Views and accessibility to the existing forest and lake are maximized. The waterfront is developed to become a destination for leisure and wellness. Cultural facilities are located in the heart of the plan to create a recreational center that is alive day and night. Highly pedestrian nature of the plan and introduction of a modern public transport system ensures that Mo-City becomes a healthy and lively city.
