Pınar Balat (Ankara, 1986) is an architect, urbanist and researcher based in Amsterdam. She obtained her Bachelor of Science at Middle East Technical University in Ankara (2008), and her Master of Advanced Studies in Collective Housing at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (2009). She then graduated with a Master of Science degree from Technische Universiteit Delft (2011). In 2015, she founded her own practice, Studio Pınar Balat. She has gained extensive experience at various architecture and urban design offices in the Netherlands.
In 2025, she co-founded Foreign House, dedicated to advancing spatial justice in cities. Together with Igor Sladoljev, she developes urban strategies and digital tools grounded in multidisciplinary research. They translate complex urban challenges into spatial prototypes, participatory methods and civic instruments that connect theory with practice, opening new ways of imagining and inhabiting the just city.
