Pınar speaks at the event ‘Feminist solutions for a just city’

Organised by Women Make The City.

“The space in the city – to live, work, travel and enjoy yourself – is becoming increasingly scarce. But that scarcity hits some people harder than others. Factors such as your origin, education, gender, sexual preference or physical condition determine the extent to which you can compete for the city's success. The effects of gentrification and segregation are felt most by the least privileged groups. ntersectional feminism allows us to see how urban inequality is experienced differently by different people. From this perspective, how can we work on solutions for a more just and inclusive city?”

At this event where the guests and a very diverse, engaged audience had discussions about when and how does the city make them feel at home, safe and included. Pınar, Marieke van Doorninck (former Councilor for Spatial Planning and Sustainability in Municipality of Amsterdam), Hade Steenwinkel (Director of Fiction Factory) and Najah Aouaki, took part in a panel where they discussed how they try to contribute to a more just city on a daily basis through their work.
